HopeRev Project :: Week 1 :: An Encounterers Perspective

Friday 16th May was no ordinary encounter. We went on a prayer walk. We were split up into 4 groups at the church, 8 Encounterers with 3 leaders, and we were then sent off in different directions. The group I was in headed off down the Belmont Road. Praying for things like racial acceptance in the area, Christian witnesses in local business, churches, playgroups and young people hanging about we walked and prayed and huddled at various stages up and down the road. Also, we had a silent time of prayer (difficult for some more than others) as we walked down the road, allowing people the chance to pray for what was on their heart that perhaps they didn’t feel they could say out loud.
All the groups met up again in the church for some tuck, tea and coffee (and as always, a healthy dose of banter) before having a time of praise. Phil and the band led us in some songs, while allowing people to go up and share things that God had put on their heart. It was a really good night, which seemed to be enjoyed by all, and I can’t wait til next week.
